Compressive Strength Freeze and Thow Durability Correlation in Soil Cement Design (RESEARCH NOTE)

نویسنده

چکیده مقاله:

This paper explains the procedure and results of an experiment on the relationship between the unconfined compressive strength and percent weight loss due to freeze and thaw durability test of laboratory compacted soil-cement specimens. The tests were carried out on soil cement mixtures of 10 different soil types. It was shown that the percent weight loss due to freeze and thaw durability test (F&T) and the 28-day compressive strength (UCS) may be correlated with some error. However, using the graph given in this paper, the designer may estimate the percent weight loss with an error in the order of 2 percent. The 28-day UCS values are linearly correlated with the UCS values of the similar specimens subjected to the F & T durability tests with a regression factor of o.96.

The Effects of Water/Cement Ratio and Air Entraining on Portland Cement Concrete Freeze/Thaw Durability

This paper deals with the issues of air entraining and water/cement ratio in Portland Cement Concrete as related to its freeze thaw durability. Practices have been in place for nearly thirty years which demanded high early strengths in Portland Cement Concrete pavements. This paper looks at those practices, investigates the correlation between water/cement ratio and air entraining, and presents...

PREDICTION OF COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH AND DURABILITY OF HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE BY ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS

Neural networks have recently been widely used to model some of the human activities in many areas of civil engineering applications. In the present paper, artificial neural networks (ANN) for predicting compressive strength of cubes and durability of concrete containing metakaolin with fly ash and silica fume with fly ash are developed at the age of 3, 7, 28, 56 and 90 days. For building these...
